In the midst of all these tweets about donating to Haiti relief funds via text message, it’s kind of nice to see more traditional community-based activism emerging as an alternative. On Saturday, February 6, WVKR Dj’s Super T, Christine Williams, Vincent Smith, Rupie T, and Plummie are teaming up with WCZX to put on a Haitian Disaster Relief Fundraiser. The Ciboney Cafe (located at 189 Church Street in Poughkeepsie) has donated the use of its venue for the evening, and doors open at 7:30. There will be a cover charge at the door. 100% of all money collected will go to Haiti through the Presbyterian church.
