  • Music! News style

    February 27th, 2012

This week the Campus Current explores a topic near and dear to WVKR — music. Out of the music office and “into the streets,” we explore the musical outlets of Vassar campus. Evi and Magnolia speak to campus band, The Body Electric, about their shifting music style and their recent performance at the Apollo Theatre. Steph and Kyle  hear from one of Vassar’s talented a capella groups, Vassar Has Soul. Erik gives us a tour of Skinner Hall in celebration of its 80th anniversary. For our senior thesis corner, Molly brings in Matt Wheeler ’12 who is doing his Women’s Studies and Sociology thesis on disco, masculinity, and race.

Happy Valentine’s Day! Love, the Campus Current.

    February 13th, 2012

Tomorrow, February 14th, from 5-6 pm, tune in with your sweetie to the Campus Current. We’ll be talking about Radical Love: Taking Back Valentine’s Day, which was the theme of the Annual Religious and Spiritual Life Day last week. We’ll also be speaking to some of the cast of the Vagina Monologues and discuss both the play and the V-Day Movement. We’ll also hear from Linda Nochlin, Vassar Class of ’51 and Art History Professor from 1952 to 1980. She’ll be discussing her feminist art historical perspective and her seminal essay “Why Have There Been No Great Women Artists” as well as her upcoming book on Gericault.

Pop open a box of candy hearts and get your fill of campus news! Tomorrow 5-6pm on WVKR.
