Celebrating the celestial alignment of National Jazz Month and National Poetry Month, the first episode of JAZZOETRY MOMENTS aired on Sunday, recorded live from our recently revitalized recording studio!
Hosted by Penny Brodie of Mingus Moments and Mike Jurkovic of NuJazzXcursions, Jazzoetry pairs live jazz and spoken word poetry drawing from a long tradition of artistic collaboration. This most recent episode featured the wonderful and prolific Eric Person on sax and flute, Lew Scott holding it down on bass, and poetry from Penny and Mike.
Jazzoetry shows will be recorded about four times a year. IF YOU’RE A VASSAR POET, you’re welcome and encouraged to come by the studio and share your work during the next episode! Everyone is welcome! Also, if you’re a jazz musician, feel free to stop by for a quick jam session! Email Penny Brodie or Mike Jurkovic with any questions.
(P.S. If you’re a DJ interested in using the recording studio for a project of your own, send us an email… it could be fun…)
